I Hondartzas arbeider finner man en undersøkelse av det emosjonelle
avhengighetsforholdet mellom person, objekt og bilde. Hondartza er interessert
i spenningen mellom bildeskapende system som digitale og analoge teknologier,
og hvordan disse påvirker vår oppfattelse av bilder.
«I seek to create a space where to question our individual and collective
notions of loss and displacement, representation and communication. I have
been recently more and more interested in the effect that image-technology
is taking on the understanding of travelling and the theoretical impossibility
of getting lost (from mapping to GPS technology, web cams etc). This technology,
i find, exposes the fragility of the individual and is also an indication of
the human fear of being lost and need for control.»
Hodartza arbeider i hovedsak med video, fotografi og tegning.
Født 1982, Cabanas, A Coruña, Spain. Uteksaminert (BA) i Fine
Art ved The University of the Basque Country (Spain) in 2005; og fullførte
en MA i Fine Art ved Sheffield Hallam University in 2007. Hondartza Fraga
har hatt utstillinger i hjemlandet, (Liverpool, London, Sheffield) and internasjonalt
(Portugal, Spain, The Netherlands). Hun bor og arbeider i Santander (Spain)
and Sheffield (UK).
